Use bonus

Any cTrader user can use their active bonus and converted bonus to perform certain actions.

Active bonus

Active bonus can be used to trade only in combination with balance funds. If the account balance is zero, then the active bonus will also be zero.

Converted bonus

Warning

Brokers determine whether bonuses can be converted into balance, set the conversion ratio displayed in cTrader and may impose additional conditions for conversion.

Bonuses are converted into balance at 00:00 UTC the next day if the conditions set by the broker are met. When bonuses are converted, they are moved from total bonus to converted bonus, and the converted bonus value is reflected in the updated balance.

Bonuses converted into balance become funds that can be used to trade independently of the active bonus or be withdrawn as cash.

Example

A user’s starting conditions:

  • Total bonus = 500
  • Balance = 80
  • Unrealised net P&L = 20
  • Balance + unrealised net P&L = 100
  • Active bonus = min (500,100) = 100

The user has received a USD 200 bonus.

  • Total bonus = 500 + 200 = 700
  • Balance + unrealised net P&L = 100
  • Active bonus = min (700,100) = 100

The user has traded USD 400,000.

  • Conversion ratio = USD 1 for USD 200,000
  • Converted bonus = 2
  • Total bonus = 700 - 2 = 698
  • Balance + unrealised net P&L = 100 + 2 = 102
  • Active bonus = min (698, 102) = 102
