Should I use the local or remote MCP server?

What operations does the local MCP server support?
The local MCP server covers trading, account data, market data and analysis, chart control, indicators, plugins, UI layout and workspaces and price alerts.

Make sure cTrader Windows or cTrader Mac is running before starting your AI client and that Enable MCP server is ticked in Settings → MCP Server.
Remote MCP¶
How do I set up the remote MCP server?

Yes. A separate token is issued for each trading account. Switch the account in the cTrader Web account selector and copy its configuration in Settings → Remote MCP.

Re-authenticate in cTrader Web and update the token in your AI client configuration.
Security¶
Can the AI agent place real trades?
Yes. When trading is enabled, the AI agent can place, modify and close real orders on your behalf. Always supervise its actions and verify outputs before acting on them.
Can I require confirmation before each trade?
Yes. Tick Require confirmation for trading operations in the local MCP server settings, or configure your AI client to confirm tool calls.
Does cTrader AI Agent Connect provide financial advice?
No. cTrader AI Agent Connect is a tool that lets AI agents interact with cTrader. AI-generated suggestions and actions are not financial, investment, legal or tax advice — you are responsible for verifying outputs and supervising any strategy the agent executes.
How is my account authenticated?
The local MCP server authenticates via your active cTrader Windows or cTrader Mac session. The remote MCP server uses a per-account bearer token issued from cTrader Web.
The AI agent ignores the MCP server and uses web search instead. How how do I fix it?
When starting a new session, begin your prompt with the server name, for example Using the cTrader local MCP server.... This helps the agent route requests to the MCP server rather than falling back on web search or other tools.
