Manage risk across your portfolio¶

This guide shows you how to use Local MCP to monitor risk, identify overexposed positions and take action to protect your account.

1. Check your margin level¶

Start by understanding how much of your equity is committed to open positions.

What percentage of my equity is currently used as margin? 
Show my balance, equity and free margin.

If free margin is low relative to equity, you may be overexposed.

2. Find positions without stop losses¶

Unprotected positions are the biggest risk to your account. Ask the agent to flag them.

List all open positions that do not have a stop loss set.

Review each one and decide whether to add protection.

3. Add stop losses to unprotected positions¶

For each position that lacks a stop loss, tell the agent to add one. You can do this individually or in bulk.

Individual:

Set a stop loss on position 456789 at 1.1100.

Bulk (let the agent decide levels):

For every open position that has no stop loss, add a stop loss 
50 pips below the entry price for buy positions and 50 pips above 
for sell positions.

4. Identify losing positions beyond your threshold¶

Define a loss threshold and ask the agent to flag anything that exceeds it.

Show me all open positions with an unrealised loss greater than $300. 
Include the symbol, entry price, current P&L and whether a stop 
loss is set.

This gives you a focused list of positions that need attention.

5. Close positions that breach your rules¶

If any positions exceed your maximum acceptable loss, close them.

Close all positions that are losing more than $500.

Or be more selective:

Close position 456789.

Close all losing EURUSD positions.

6. Run a complete risk check¶

Combine the above steps into a single prompt you can run whenever you want a risk overview.

Run a risk check on my account: show my margin level as a percentage 
of equity, list any positions without a stop loss and flag any 
position losing more than $300. Suggest which positions I should 
consider closing.

The agent returns a structured summary with actionable recommendations.
