Non-Latin characters in file path

An algorithm may fail to run if its file path contains non-Latin characters. To resolve the issue, configure your computer to use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support.

Note

To perform the operations successfully, you may need to log in to your computer with an administrator account and confirm any User Account Control (UAC) prompts when they appear.

Follow the instructions that apply to your operating system.

Windows 10 and 11

  1. Do one of the following:

    • Press Win+R to open the Run dialog, type in intl.cpl, then click the OK button.

    • Open the Settings app, then click Time & language > Administrative language settings.

    • Open the Control Panel app, then click Region or Clock and Region > Region.
  2. In the Region dialogue, ensure you are on the Administrative tab, then click Change system locale.

  3. In the Region Settings dialogue, tick the Beta: Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support checkbox.

  4. Restart your computer.

Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and newer

  1. Press Win+R to open the Run dialog, type in regedit, then click the OK button.

  2. In the Registry Editor window, navigate through this path in the left pane: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Nls\CodePage

  3. In the right pane, double-click ACP, enter 65001 in the Value data field, then click OK.

  4. Perform the same action for OEMCP and MACCP.

  5. Restart your computer.

If the problem persists, rebuild your algorithms in cTrader.

Tips

If you are unable to configure your computer with the required settings, consider one of the following options:

  • Change your system language to match the language used in your username, especially if the non-Latin character in the file path originates from your username.
  • Create a new user account that uses only Latin letters in the username.
