# IndicatorAttribute.IsOverlay

## IsOverlay

Indicates whether this instance is overlayed on the chart or plotted on a separate indicator panel

Environments: Desktop supported · CLI supported · Cloud supported.

C#:

```csharp
public bool IsOverlay {get; set;}
```

Python:

```python
indicatorAttribute.IsOverlay: bool
```

### Returns

`bool` — The IsOverlay property sets the value true if this Indicator should be plotted on the chart panel; false if the indicator should be plotted on a separate Indicator Panel

### Examples

C#:

```csharp
public partial class MedianPriceSample : Indicator
{
    public override void Calculate(int index)
    {
        Median[index] = (Bars.HighPrices[index] + Bars.LowPrices[index]) / 2;
    }
}
```

Python:

def calculate(self, index):
