FAQ

What is the best cBot?

There is no cBot that realistically could be named 'the best'. cBots perform various functions depending on the intentions of their authors. Using a cBot does not guarantee earning profits. When using a cBot, you accept full risk for any actions it may perform.

Can I create a new algorithm in cTrader Web?

No, creating a new algorithm is only possible via cTrader Windows.

Can I see the source code of an algorithm?

If you are not the author of an algorithm, you can only see its source code with explicit permission from the owner and only in cTrader Windows.

Why did one of my algorithms disappear?

The most probable cause is that the author has chosen to stop providing this product. If the author is your partner in the 'Partner' app, you can go to their profile and see their contact details (if there are any). Contact your partner if you want them to restore the algorithm.

Note

You can also access the profile by tapping on the nickname of the author in the 'Author' field in the algorithm page.

One of my cBot instances has suddenly stopped/crashed. Why?

In rare cases, an instance may encounter an error and cease execution. If you go to the 'Instance Information' tab on the instance page, you should see a detailed log of actions performed by the instance. This journal should also contain the exact event when the instance encountered an error.

Instances run in Cloud on live accounts until you stop them, whereas the cloud execution of cBot instances on demo accounts is automatically stopped 7 days after their start. To restart your instance, simply click on 'Start cBot Instance' on the instance page or on the green 'Play' icon in the algorithm list.

How many cBot instances can I start in Cloud?

You can simultaneously run 1 cBot instance on demo accounts and up to 10 cBot instances on live accounts in Cloud. Please note that these limits may vary depending on the broker.

Why cannot I run custom indicators and plugins in Cloud?

Custom indicators and plugins offer several features that are not currently supported across all cTrader platforms. For example, plugins can modify the cTrader UI. To ensure that your experience with cTrader is as smooth as possible, you can only run custom indicators and plugins on cTrader Windows.

If I am the author of an algorithm can I charge other people for using it?

At the moment, cTrader does not offer any built-in means for charging one-time payments or regular fees for algorithm usage. You will need to use third-party services to process payments and ensure that your algos are distributed only to paying customers. Note that this may change with future releases of cTrader.

How can I share the results of backtesting with other users?

Backtesting is only available in cTrader Windows. However, when using cTrader Windows, you can choose to upload your backtesting report so that it can be shown on the algorithm page. The report will be shown in all cTrader terminals on all devices.
