Accounts and cTID: Commonly Asked Questions

This page contains the answers to some of the commonly asked questions on trading accounts and cTID.

If you have run into an issue related to accounts and cTID, there is a high chance that you can find the root cause of the problem here.

Note

As shown in our introduction to cTID, a cTID is different from an account number. A cTID consists of both a nickname and a password while an account number is a sequence of numbers. When creating cTrader accounts with different brokers but using the same email (and, subsequently, the same cTID), your cTID credentials remain the same. As a result, there is no need to use different credentials for branded cTrader applications accessed via various brokers - you can use the same cTID credentials for a branded "Broker 1" cTrader and a branded "Broker 2" cTrader. In each of these applications, you will only see accounts registered under the corresponding brokerage.

I created a cTrader ID but I have not received a cTrader ID confirmation email. Why?

The cTrader ID Welcome Email

Before you try any of the suggestions below, search your inbox for an email titled "Welcome to cTrader ID". If you see such an email in your inbox, click on it and press the 'Confirm cTrader ID' button to activate your cTID.

There are several reasons that a cTrader ID confirmation email might not arrive at your email address.

  • Check if the email was not moved to your spam folder. Add noreply@ctrader.com to your list of safe senders so that emails arriving from this address are not marked as spam.
  • Temporary network issues might prevent the email from being delivered. If your email has not arrived after some time, visit the cTrader ID site, login and click on the 'Resend Confirmation Email' button.
  • If the above suggestions do not address the issue, please contact us at community@ctrader.com and our team will be happy to investigate this further.

I created my account inside the broker’s client area but I have not received a cTrader ID welcoming email. Why?

There are several reasons that a cTrader ID welcoming email might not arrive at your email address.

I created my account inside the broker’s client area but I cannot see it in cTrader. Why?

Several different reasons may prevent you from seeing your account in cTrader after creating it in your broker's client area. These are as follows.

  • You are using the wrong cTrader application. Make sure you are either using the cTrader cross-broker application or your broker’s branded cTrader application. You cannot access your cTrader account when using another broker’s branded cTrader application.
  • You may have created an account for a different platform. Make sure you have created an account for the cTrader platform. Only cTrader accounts can be used with cTrader.
  • You have used a different email address to enter your broker’s client area compared to the one you have used to log into cTrader. When you create an account using your broker’s client area, the broker will link the account with the relevant cTrader ID, which is identified using your email address. If you use a different email address in your broker’s client area, then the account will be linked to a cTrader ID having that email address as a username.

I created my account in cTrader but I cannot see it in my broker’s client area. Why?

Several different reasons may prevent you from seeing your account in the broker's client area after creating it in cTrader. These are as follows.

  • You have used a different email address to enter your broker’s client area than the one you used to log into cTrader. Therefore, in your broker’s client area you are seeing the information for a different cTrader ID.
  • There was a problem and your broker’s client area was not notified about the creation of the new account.

In both cases, you need to contact your broker to link the newly created account with your client area identifier.
