UI Basics

The cTrader mobile user interface includes several main tabs, menus and action buttons which together form the intuitive and powerful tool for trading on your mobile device. The trading itself is performed by the familiar mechanism of creating and filling the trading orders. The app allows users to easily manage their trading accounts and gives access to the thousands of trading assets in both Demo and Live modes.

Basically, the user workspace consists of the Main menu and several tabs - Watchlists, Positions, Orders, Price Alerts, History, and Transactions. A user can navigate between the tabs by tapping the tab bar to the top of the screen or just swiping them. This document is designed to explain how the main cTrader mobile user interface elements work.

Main Menu

cTrader mobile Main menu gives quick access to the basic functionalities and options of the application. From the Main menu a user can:

  • create new accounts or switch between the accounts with the Accounts picker, or manage them with the Accounts button;
  • create new Orders - Market, Limit, Stop and Stop Limit orders;
  • create Price Alerts - configuring alerts to trigger when the market reaches a specified price; You can receive alerts via Push Notification and email as well. You need to send confirmation link from Settings to enable email alerts.
  • search for a proper Symbols to trade, with the Find Symbol option;
  • manage cTrader basic Settings - timezone, language, sounds, assets units, alerts notifications, quick trade settings, etc.
  • Click logo to the top-left 7 times if you want to send troubleshooting information. This will help development of application!

Accounts

Account Information Bar

The account information bar is always displayed to the bottom of the screen. It displays the real-time reflection of your account Balance, Equity, Gross and Net Profit and Loss, Margin details, Stop Out, Trading Sessions and the current Time. Tapping the Account Information bar displays the full information.

Managing Accounts

The Accounts button allows to change the account password, sign out from all of the accounts, select an existing account to trade or open new Demo account.

Select an Account

The Accounts picker allows switching between the accounts. When tapped - the Accounts List is shown up.

Accounts List

All the user Demo and Live accounts are displayed in the list. A user can select and use only one account. “D” or “L” abbreviation next to an account means if it is a Demo or a Live account respectively.

Watchlists Tab

The Watchlists tab allows users to combine symbols into groups to trade the listed symbols only. The default Watchlist is Popular Markets which includes the basic currency pairs, commodity symbols, and stocks. This list is not editable, but you can copy it and make your own list on its basis, adding or removing symbols of your choice.

Tapping the Watchlist name opens the Watchlists picker. A user can create the new Watchlists, edit the existing ones by adding and removing the symbols from them or switch between the preferable lists with the Watchlist picker. All the Watchlists except Popular Markets can be edited or removed.

Symbols

cTrader mobile supports thousands of currency pairs, commodity symbols, stocks, indices, metals and other tradable assets. The most convenient way of selecting the symbols to trade is using the Watchlists (you can find more information on the Watchlists below). To find a proper symbol to trade just swipe the Symbols list or use the search to the upper right of the Watchlists menu.

Alternatively, you can find the required symbols using Find Symbols option in the Main menu.

When tapping a Symbol, the Symbol overview is displayed. It includes the following components:

Symbol Status bar:

The symbol status bar displays the security trading dynamics in the real time. If the market for a symbol is opened, then the Sell and Buy buttons are active. Use Volume(s) picker to specify the Volume (Lots or Units) to bid and Sell and Buy buttons to create orders directly from the symbol status bar. To set Units as volume, proceed to the Settings, then tap on Assets and select Units.

If the trading for the symbol is unavailable at the time, then the Sell and Buy buttons are disabled and no live dynamics is displayed.

Charts:

The Symbol dynamics is displayed on the chart in real time. Use the Fullscreen button to enlarge the chart and the Period picker to view the charts for the certain period of time.

Sentiment:

Market Sentiment for the symbol is displayed in a separate bar.

Symbol Details:

Detailed symbol information with real-time bid and ask price dynamics is displayed in a separate.

Market Hours:

Check the open and close market hours for the symbol. The open hours are highlighted with green.

Links:

Follow the links provided to check the detailed information on the symbol current state in financial information sources.

Trading Statistics:

View your account trading statistics for the symbol displayed in a Trade Statistics bar.

Leverage:

The dynamic leverage for the symbol with the specified possible volume is displayed in the Leverage bar.

Positions Tab

The Positions tab contains the list of all the active trade positions. The Positions from the list can be modified or closed just in few taps. Selecting a position from the list expands the opened position menu where a user can:

  • change the volume to trade,
  • change the order direction (Buy or Sell),
  • enable or disable Stop Loss and Take Profit protection,
  • double or reverse the position,
  • close the position (or Close All).

Opening a new position from the Positions menu is possible in two ways: by creating an order using the standard New Order button or by searching a symbol to trade with the smart search and tapping Buy or Sell directly in the Symbol overview.

Orders Tab

The Orders menu contains the list of all the users’ pending orders with the following information:

  • Symbol - the trading symbol abbreviation itself;
  • Size - the volume of lots or units trading in the order;
  • Side - the order direction (Buy or Sell);
  • Distance - the distance between the spot price and Stop Limit Order entry price in pips;
  • Entry Time - the time an order was filled (for tablets or landscape view).

The pending orders can be canceled all at a time by tapping Cancel All, or one by one by tapping the Close icons next to them.

Creating a New Order

The New Order button is available from the Main menu, Watchlists, Positions and Orders menu. Tap it to get to the New Order menu to create a new order.

Alternatively, tap New Orden in the Main menu to create a new order.

The Create Order menu allows creating four types of orders: Market, Limit, Stop or Stop Limit order. Market Order is the default order type in Create Order menu. To select the required order type use the order types tab bar to the top of the screen, or just swipe.

Market Order Tab

Market Order is the default order type in Create Order menu. Creating a Market Order the one should specify:

  • a symbol to trade by tapping on the symbol selector;
  • trading direction (the selected Sell or Buy side is highlighted with orange or green respectively);
  • lots or units quantity - selected in the picker;
  • market range in pips if prompted;
  • Stop Loss and Take profit securities if prompted.

Limit Order Tab

Creating a Limit Order the one should specify:

  • a symbol to trade by tapping on the symbol selector;
  • trading direction (the selected Sell or Buy side is highlighted with orange or green respectively);
  • lots or units quantity - selected in the picker;
  • entry price - the price at which you want your order to be filled;
  • expiry date and time if prompted;
  • Stop Loss and Take profit securities if prompted.

Stop Order Tab

Creating a Limit Order the one should specify:

  • a symbol to trade by tapping on the symbol selector;
  • trading direction (the selected Sell or Buy side is highlighted with orange or green respectively);
  • lots or units quantity - selected in the picker;
  • entry price - the price at which you want your order to be filled;
  • trigger side - trade, double trade, the opposite or double opposite - selected from the trigger side selector;
  • expiry date and time if prompted;
  • Stop Loss and Take profit securities if prompted.

Stop Limit Order Tab

Creating a Stop Limit Order, the one should specify:

  • a symbol to trade by tapping on the symbol selector;
  • trading direction (the selected Sell or Buy side is highlighted with orange or green respectively);
  • lots or units quantity - selected in the picker;
  • entry price - the price at which you want your order to be filled;
  • trigger side - trade, double trade, the opposite or double opposite - selected from the trigger side selector;
  • limit range in pips;
  • expiry date and time if prompted;
  • Stop Loss and Take profit securities if prompted.

Price Alerts Tab

cTrader mobile can be configured to alert users with the pop-up when the symbol reaches a certain price for the more convenient trading process. All the price alerts created by a user are listed in the Price Alerts menu. Here a user can create or cancel Price Alerts.

The Create Price Alert button allows creating a new price alert with the specific conditions for any symbol. Tap it to open the Create Price Alert menu.

Alternatively, tap Create Price Alert in the Main Menu to create a new Price Alert.

A user can set the conditions for the alerts with the Create Price Alert menu and save them to the Price Alerts list, or easily remove the price alerts when he doesn’t need them anymore. When the Price Alert conditions are met you will be notified with a pop-up and the expired Price Alert will be canceled automatically.

History Tab

The History tab lists all the users’ actions including filled orders and activated positions with the following information:

  • Size - the number of lots or units trading for the symbol;
  • Side - Sell or Buy direction;
  • Current Net Profit or Loss;
  • Realized Profit and Loss for the symbol.

Transactions Tab

The cTrader account Transactions tab lists all the users transactions with the real money on their Live accounts or with the virtual money on the Demo accounts. All the Deposit and Withdrawal operations are displayed in the list with the following details:

  • Transaction time and date;
  • Type of transaction;
  • The amount of funds in the currency of account.
