Positions¶
cTrader opens a position when one of your orders is filled after the conditions for its order type are met.
All open positions are listed in the Positions tab of the Positions app. To see the positions on one symbol only, open its symbol overview and switch to the Positions tab there.

Manage positions¶
Tap a position in the Positions tab to open its menu. The menu has four tabs: Modify, Protect, Chart and Details. It opens on Modify by default.
Tip
Tap in the upper-right corner to share the position as a signal link.
Modify positions¶

In the Modify tab you can:
- Sell/Buy – set the trading direction.
- Quantity/Volume – change the trade size.
- Double – open an additional position of the same volume and direction.
- Reverse – close the position and open one of the same volume in the opposite direction.
- Close – close the position at the current market price, which the button carries.
The tab also reports:
- Entry price – the price the position opened at.
- Bid and Ask – the current prices for the symbol.
- Used margin – the amount the position ties up in your account.
- Net P&L – what the position is worth if you close it now.
Note
Changing direction with Sell/Buy or Reverse closes your current exposure with an offsetting deal, realising its profit or loss (P&L). cTrader then opens a new position on the opposite side. You cross the spread again, swaps restart, and your stop loss and take profit must be reapplied.
Tap Modify to save your changes. Until you change the trade direction or size it stays disabled, with the hint Leave size intact beneath it.
Protect positions¶

In the Protect tab you can set or change:
- Take profit – set or modify the take-profit levels.
- Stop loss – set or modify the stop-loss protection.
- Trailing stop loss – enable or modify a trailing stop loss.
- Break-even – set or modify the break-even protection.
Tap Modify protection to save. Setting the levels works the same way as it does when you place an order, described in Protections.
View on the chart¶

In the Chart tab, the position appears on the symbol chart as a position control, so you can see where it sits against the price.
Tap to go full screen and manage the position with chart trading.
Tap the period selector next to to change the chart period.

Close positions¶
Closing a position executes an offsetting deal at the best available market price. The profit or loss that was unrealised while the position was open is realised and applied to your balance. The position then moves to the History tab.
Note
cTrader also closes positions automatically when a stop loss or take profit is triggered, or when your account reaches your broker's stop-out level.
You can close positions individually or in bulk.
Tap the next to the position you want to close.
Tap to close the position fom chart trading.
Tap Close positions beneath the position list, if you want to close the positions in bulk. Set the direction, P&L and symbols you want to close, then tap Close positions, which counts what your criteria match.
